Ricky Wenthen currently works with Seán Curran Company and Robin Becker Dance. He was most recently seen dancing in the Rameau opera, Les Fetes del' Hymen et de l'Amour, ou Les Dieux d'Égypte (The Celebrations of Marriage and Love, or the Gods of Egypt) with Seán Curran Company at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and the Rose Theater at Lincoln Center in NYC. Wenthen previously performed with Robin Becker Dance in their fall season of Into Sunlight at New York City’s Florence Gould Hall that was filmed for a film documentary by the makers of Jacob’s Pillow: Never Stand Still. He has also had the pleasure of dancing in Giada Ferrone’s The Nutcracker NYC: A Contemporary Ballet in its annual performances at the Ailey Citigroup Theater in Manhattan.
Having a background as a Musical Theatre performer, Wenthen has worked at the historic Tibbits Opera House in Coldwater, Michigan as a summer company member in productions such as A Chorus Line (Bobby) and Guys and Dolls (Brandy Bottle Bates). International performances include the Florence Dance festival in Italy where Wenthen had a solo choreographed for him by Giada Ferrone and also performed in works by Arianna Benedetti, Jennifer Chin, and Piero Leccese through Toscana Dance HUB. Wenthen trained with the Joffrey Ballet School summer Jazz and Contemporary program where he was selected to perform an original work by Mia Michaels. Wenthen began his training at SUNY Cortland as a Musical Theatre Major studying music, voice, theatre, and dance. He graduated with a dance degree from Hostra University where he was the first recipient of the Real Men Lift Women scholarship.
